Okay creepy crawlers, I know you're there, but I'm saying NO! This is an official exorcism, written, blogged, published--BAM!
Here’s the scoop. I haven’t slept for days. Why? At least one of my paintings hanging on my bedroom walls is haunted.
(R) Unfinished painting of Frida Kahlo
(L) Unfinished painting of Freddie Mercury
I have been painting dead celebrities (Joan Rivers most recently, God bless her soul), Elvis, Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Robin Williams, Lucille Ball, Sid and Nancy etc. etc. furiously for the past month when strange things started happening.
Lights turning on and off by themselves. My stuff disappearing then a few hours later re-appearing. Shrill laughter (a female voice) from another room that's vacant.
At first I just shrugged them off as my imagination or forgetfulness but as I uncovered the heinous, cringe-worthy back story of some of these dead celebrities and how they died, I began to suspect a haunting. But which celebrity is it?
For instance, Sid and Nancy Vicious. I knew nothing about them until famous fashionista, Garrett Bauman, suggested I paint them for his Annie Creamcheese store. Oh, what a sweet punk rock couple, I thought. Edgy, sure, but how romantic of them to always be together, drinking, taking drugs. And as I finished my paintings of them, I began researching more about their lives together. Shocking. I did not see it coming. It turns out, Sid had murdered Nancy. A knife to the stomach and she bled to death. Oh, great. Right now, they’re looking straight at me as I type this, hanging on my bedroom wall.
Robin Williams committed suicide. Hung himself.
And as I go on my twentieth day of hardly sleeping and keeping all the lights on at night—
Weeks ago, when I returned from a trip, I found a couple of paintings stacked upside down in the middle of my room. Who had put them there? Certainly not me. The room was locked, I’m the only one with the key.
A few days ago, when I woke up around 4am, thinking sun’s rising soon so, except for my small night light, I turned off all the lights. Big mistake. Hours later, when I woke up, this paddle board was out from my closet, pointed straight at me.
--I am continuing to paint however. Because painting is my life and these paintings (which one’s haunted?) will be sold at an Annie Creamcheese party where proceeds go to charities.
So, I keep breathing, painting, taking a stand against any creepy crawlers, mouthing, "You're not the boss of me."
Here's the paddleboard that was inside the closet at night and somehow was out by morning
Is this the haunted painting? (unfinished acrylic of Sid and Nancy Vicious)
